Stress is a big deal.
Bupa studied 100,000 people in the U.K. and discovered that 1 in 4 of us feel stressed constantly, and 44% of us suffer from stress.
Unfortunately stress is also a normal part of our lives, so it’s important that we find a way to manage it.
Here are some suggestions to manage stress:
1) Change diet. There are specific foods that we can eat that can help us manage our stress.
This article (https://www.success.com/how-food-affects-your-stress-levels-both-good-and-bad/) is a great introduction to some of the changes we can make. Here’s a sneak preview: think chickpeas, almonds and broccoli.
2) Spend time in nature. Trees do it for me, especially autumn leaves. Find your nearest spot in nature (it need only be small) and take deep breaths, let the to do list go, and unwind. Let nothing exist except the experience of being there, and focus on your senses to bring you into the moment. So concentrate on what you see, feel and hear.
3) Let go of some of the expectations you have of yourself. Surrender to life feeling unfinished and messy at times. Allow yourself to make mistakes. Widen the passage that dictates how you should go through life. Ditch some of the rules. Let yourself go at times. Practice being perfectly imperfect.
4) Make a commitment to either finishing that task, or forgetting about it entirely until you decide to pick it up again. Don’t mull over things. Commit one way or another.
5) Exercise. It increases your endorphins which help with the management of stress. Whilst you’re at it, make sure to choose an exercise you enjoy. There are so many different types of exercise we can do now, from pole dancing to rock climbing.
