I offer a free 15-minute scheduled phone or video consultation for you to get a sense of me, how I work, and ask any questions you may have.

The first session is about understanding what brings you to therapy. It is an opportunity for you to tell me exactly what is troubling you in as much detail as you find comfortable. It can feel like you’re ‘downloading’ to me. It doesn’t have to be in chronological order (but it can be too) or be perfect. I will get as much information about you and what brings you to therapy from how you tell me; not just what you tell me.

If the decision is made to work together I will discuss our working agreement. This agreement will outline the confidential nature of the sessions and the cancellation policy. We may decide to work together for a set number of sessions or in an open-ended contract. This will vary depending on both the issue you are bringing and what you wish to get out of therapy. We will discuss this and agree on it together.

The second session is where I take a complete history of you. I will ask you about your prior therapy, childhood, key relationships, sex life, work life, dreams and more. It is okay if something is off the table. This information gathering will give me a context in which to understand you and your challenges. We will also discuss and agree on our therapeutic goals together.

I will take copious notes in only the first and second sessions then you’ll have my full attention.

In following sessions usually you’ll be invited to talk about whatever is foremost on your mind and I will be there to listen and help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings whilst holding our therapeutic goals in mind.
